Children’s Ministry

Check out our Youtube channel!

Here at dbKids, our main purpose is to influence children to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ! We do this by laying a firm foundation on the Word of God. By using a multisensory approach in each of our classrooms, deep theological truths come alive.

New at Desert Breeze? Here’s what to expect…

Welcome! The children’s ministry serves children from birth through 5th grade. We are located in Suite 101 under the Desert Breeze Community Church sign on the southern end of the building. When visiting for the first time, families will need to set up a family profile with one of our staff. This is only done on your initial visit, happens at the check in stations, and usually takes about 5 minutes. This way we will have all pertinent information including birthdates, allergies, and contact numbers. When you come back, all that you will need to check in again is the last 4 digits of your number and checking in is a breeze!

Each guardian will get one check out tag for all minors which will be needed to show security guard for entry back into the building. All staff, security, and volunteers who work in our children’s area have passed a background checked, taken sexual abuse awareness training, and been interviewed including references. We take the safety of those in our care very seriously!

Classes are open 15 min prior to the service start times so that those serving in the classrooms have an opportunity to get things in order. If your little one is upset and having trouble separating, we encourage you to leave quickly with a smile and assurance you will return. If they are not at peace within 20 minutes, we will text you and let you know. Please have your phone available and on silent so that we can contact you if need be.

At Desert Breeze, we strive to minister to the whole family unit. In the children’s ministry, you can count on support and encouragement as you endeavor to lead your little ones. Each of our awesome volunteers has been trained and cleared for serving our precious kids so that families can be confident their child is cared for and safe.

Interested in volunteering? Here’s what you need to know…

We have such an awesome community of people who love the Lord serving with us here at dbKids. Volunteers are such a vital part as we serve families each and every weekend. It is a top priority of ours to guard the children in our care with diligence. Therefore, a person walks through several steps and safety guards before working with kids in a classroom setting.

The first step is to stop by the Children’s Ministry area to meet the supervising staff and pick up a volunteer application. In the application is our handbook where you will find the ins and outs of policies and procedures that keep things running smoothly. You will bring back your filled out application including a list of 3 character references who will be contacted and a statement of faith consistent with Desert Breeze foundational beliefs.

As soon as we have the application in hand, we will order a background check and send a link to the email provided for our sexual abuse awareness training which is a video based training with a quiz for comprehension. After we contact the character references and have notification that the training is complete, we will then schedule an interview. The interview is a fun way for us to get to know you a little better and show around all the different areas.

Volunteers can expect to become part of a tight knit community as they serve the Lord consistently. They will receive phenomenal support and encouragement from our staff. There is no greater mission field than our own church family!

All of our areas use a fun, developmentally appropriate approach to teaching God’s Word to even the littlest kiddos (our littlest dbKids.?). We know children are created to learn and grow so we give them every opportunity to feast on Truth!

Interested in learning more about each area? Here’s the breakdown…

Nursery room serves children from birth to their 2nd birthday. They can expect to play with other children, read books, and sing songs. Each class has a short lesson with a simple concept and vocabulary word as these little ones are learning about the world God created. Parents will have a report to keep them updated with lesson topics, snacks eaten, naps, and diaper changes.

The Toddler room serves the 2 and 3 year-olds. The children are engaged through play including a train table and climber with a slide. One topic is presented for a whole month since the children at this age thrive with repetition. God’s Word is presented in a variety of different ways through craft, snack, circle time, and more.

After this, children move to the Preschool room until they graduate Kindergarten. Here, the Word of God comes alive through story time and interactive play. Much of the class is self-lead in a prepared environment since this age group learns so well through play. Bible truths are presented during a group lesson and parents are given a handout with tips for extending the learning throughout the week.

Children from 1st through 5th grade get to hang out in the Elementary room. This room has so many different activities for all sorts of interests- foosball, arts and crafts, construction toys, board games, and much more. Class structure includes free choice, worship, group teaching, and extension lessons. One main goal in this room is relationship building in order that when we are explaining profound biblical truths these kids can trust us with their concerns and questions so we can grow in God together! What a sweet deal.

What happens after Elementary? Anomaly! Anomaly is Desert Breeze’s youth group that seeks to disciple their kids to become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. To learn more, click here.

We would love to have your family join us on Saturday evenings at 6pm, Sunday mornings at 9 or 11am, or any of our family events held throughout the year!

Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words I command to you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise.

-Deuteronomy 6:4-7
