Q. What is the plan and location for building the church and is there a building or property we have our sights on?
A. We have a very specific plan for how our new facility will function and what it will have in the way of services. More can be learned about the specifics in the Dare You To Move brochure. Currently the church is not in a financial position to even negotiate a purchase on a building or land, that is why our campaign strategy has three tiers, each with a very specific purpose.

·     Phase One – Position – To position DBCC financially to have the means to negotiate the purchase of an existing building or land to be developed. (3 years) As we have been for the past few years, we will continue to look for and develop feasibility studies on properties that suit our needs so when God moves we’ll be ready.

·     Phase Two – Plan – Use funds from Phase One to initiate architectural planning and negotiations for purchase. Raise additional funds to finance project for building and development. (Future Effort)

·     Phase Three –  Purchase – Complete project and relieve debt 100% (Future Effort)

Q. What are the financial goals for the Dare You To Move Campaign?
A. Initially we are trying to raise $1.5 million. This is Phase One of a three tiered strategy – National averages say a church our size can raise 1.5 times their annual budget in a three year period. This phase one goal is a little above that. We know that if everyone really trusts God as their true source in making a commitment, nothing will stand in our way and a goal of $1.5 million can even be exceeded. Because DBCC is not currently financially prepared to design or purchase a new or existing facility, Phase One of the campaign will serve to position us to be able to negotiate such an endeavor. Future campaign efforts (Phases Two & Three) will serve to actually design, pursue and build out a property of our own.

Q. What if we don’t meet our goal?
A. Making disciples for Christ is what we’re about. Changed lives and fullness of life is the primary goal we all work hard for. It has been that way from the beginning and will continue to be until the end. The Dare You to Move campaign is purposed to pursue a dream to maximize our capacity in meeting the ever increasing needs in our community and to build bridges to Christ and his church. We believe God has been and continues to lead us in that direction. God has provided for DBCC where ever he has guided us. We will diligently pursue that call and the goals of this campaign for as long as it takes. We believe that God, through the DBCC family and those whom He will bring our way, are capable of realizing our campaign goals and the vision he has given to our leaders. The better question is, “what if we do meet our goals?”

Q. What commitment will I be asked to make and for how long?
A. We will each be asked to make a sacrificial faith pledge for a three-year period that is over and above our regular commitment and offerings. Prayerfully consider how God has blessed your life and ask Him what your part is to be. Respond with your commitment of what you believe God wants to do through you at this special time in our church. Our hope is that most people will decide to make their commitments the weekend of March 26th. We will also provide opportunities for the following two weeks thereafter for people to turn in their estimates of giving. Campaign giving for Phase One will begin March 26th, end April 5th, 2009 and encompass four tax years.  Outside our commitment process, gifts can be given anytime toward the campaign.

Q. Can assets other than cash be committed?
A. Yes. Many times major gifts in the form of investment securities, real estate, or other assets are committed in a campaign like ours. In fact, you may benefit from favorable tax treatment for the contribution of appreciated assets. Check with your tax consultant regarding your specific situation.

Q. Can people who do not attend DBCC or companies give donations to the campaign?
A. Absolutely not! Just kidding. Yes, all contributions are welcome as long as the integrity and motive behind the gift is to offer support for our efforts and purpose. The opportunity to pursue these types of gifts is actually a bridge in itself. If such an opportunity conveys our mission, values and vision and stirs those outside the church to join the cause, there’s no better way to share the blessing of building the kingdom and begin building a new relationship.

Q. What is sacrificial giving?
A.
It is regular giving and then some, under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. It requires a reassessment of our spending and lifestyle and readjustment of our priorities. The Money Talks series given in late 2005 was purposed to encourage our church family to get their financial lives in order to prepare for the most important growth effort Desert Breeze has ever embarked upon. Sacrificial giving requires a measure of stewardship above and beyond regular giving. Sacrificial giving costs the giver something. King David demonstrated his understanding of sacrifice in

2 Samuel 24:24 when he wrote, “I will not offer as a sacrifice to God that which costs me nothing.” Pray about what you might give up so that something greater in the kingdom of God can be accomplished.
